Great Rivers Environmental Law Center Presents

Lewis C. Green Environmental Service Award to

Dr. Peter H. Raven

On Sunday, October 2, 2011, Great Rivers Environmental Law Center presented its Lewis C. Green Environmental Service Award to Peter H. Raven, President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden.  Great Rivers presents this award annually to an individual who has shown long-time commitment to the preservation of the environment.

The Great Rivers’ board of directors selected Dr. Raven because for decades he has been an outspoken advocate for the need for conservation throughout the world based on efforts to attain sustainability and social justice.  During his forty-year tenure at the Missouri Botanical Garden, he led it to become a world-class center for botanical research, education and horticulture display.

Great Rivers honored Dr. Raven in a party at the Busch Family Mansion at Grant’s Farm.

The award is named after the founder of Great Rivers Environmental Law Center, the late Lewis C. Green, a leading environmental litigator in Missouri for many decades.
